1.3 BASIC CONCEPT OF LOGIC
  1. A proposition is an assertion of a statement that is capable of being either true or false.

e.g.: All boys are liars, no girls are thieves.

  1. An argument is a series of connected statements that are capable of being valid or invalid sound or unsound.

E.g. all girls are beautiful persons

Noela is a girls, therefore Neola is a beautiful person.

An argument has three distinctive features (parts) the majors premise, the minor premise and the conclusion.

  1. The truth is the relation that exist between two things, the mind and something judged the mind. Truth is attributed to proposition is either true or false.
  2. Validity it is that which follows the rules of right or correct reasoning. It is attributed to arguments.
