CHAPTER 4: LOGIC AND LANGUAGE.

KINDS OF MEANING.

The two kinds of meanings are;

  • Connotative meaning: It is the abstract meaning of a word or a term determining which object or concept it applies. It is the deeper meaning of a word or inner meaning of a term as given by experts to. E.g. sacrifice; love; hate
  • Denotative meaning: It is the surface meaning of a word or it is stating the meaning term by giving examples or by experts to. e.g. that is a car, that is a house.
