4. The O-Proposition; S may not be P= particular negative, it is also guided by words such as maybe not, often not, generally not, sometimes not etc e.g.
  1. Many parents may not be cheats= some parents are not cheats.
  • Statement of the form All S is not P or Not all S is P have their logical forms as Some S is not P e.g.
  1. Not all Cameroonians are corrupt= Some Cameroonians are not corrupt persons
  2. All rich men are plentiful but not valuable= Some plentiful things are not valuable
  • where few introduces an affirmative statement, the emphasis is on the negative e.g.
  1. Few bananas are rotten= Some bananas are not rotten fruits

N.B. – Not every S is P = Some S is Not P

-Not any Sis P = No S is P

-Every S is P= All S is P

- Any S is P = All Sis P

-Everything, anything S is P= All S is P.
