Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION

Physical Geography is a branch in geography that studies the physical elements and processes that occur within the natural environment. These physical elements include; soils, rocks, water, plants, animals and infiltration, weathering and others.

Physical Geography can be sub-divided into 5 branches. This branches include:

                  1. Mathematical Geography: This studies the Earth and its movement.
  1. Meteorology or Climatology: Study of weather and climate.
  2. Hydrology: Study of waters of the Earth.
  3. Biogeography: This studies plant communities.
  4. Geomorphology: This studies major and minor landforms such as mountains, hills, plains.
