The coat of arms is a pointed shield or devise use as an official decorative symbol by a government or an organization. It carries some important images and features associated in a particular country or organization.
The coat of arms has the same colors as the national flag, two hanging scale balance, two cross axes a sward and a star. All supper imposed on the map of Cameroon is a triangle which represents mount Cameroon, the Largest park in west and central Africa. The two cross axes represents the state authority and the sward too. While the hanging scale balance symbolize justice as check and balance.
Cameroon coat of arms also carries two banners one above, one below. The banner above carries the motto peace-work-fatherland while the banner below represents the name of the country republic of Cameroon.
IMPORTANCE OF THE COAT OF ARMS
- It is used in processing of official document such as passport, birth certificate, presidential and prime minister.
- It is used by the council and civil state documents such as birth certificate.
- It is also used by the judiciaries to make document that genures.
- It is use as a document taught to identify personnels of the arm forces and police to show honour and fidelity to the state.
THE MOTTO
The motto of nation is a short political slogan that reflect the arm and the objectives of that nation. The motto contains three words
PEACE WORK FATHERLAND
It is constituted as a part of the circular passport of identity, national card, ID card, Penal codes, Labor codes etc.
- PEACE : The notion of peace shows Cameroon attachment to peace itself, peace with it neighbours and peace with other countries.
- WORK : By work the people of Cameroon are called up on to adopt the culture of hardwork and sacrifice to ensure the development of the country.
- FATHERLAND: The word fatherland is a mark of patriotism. It insist the need of all Cameroonians to manifest their attachment to the ideal of love and loyalty of the country of their birth and to contribute without reservation to the development and progress of their country.
