VII. The negative impact of military rule
  • Adoption of dictatorship, depriving people of civil liberties such as freedom of speech press. They banned political parties, demonstration, hindered debates, and were very repressive towards opponents.
  • They indulged in corrupt pratices, amassing wealth at the expense of the nation
  • Lack of administrative experience and mismanagement of state affairs, because of reluctance to listen to civilian experts
  • Involved in reckless spending or extravagance, such as General acheampong in Ghana
  • Their disruption of democratic process caused political instability because of their greed examples in Nigeria and Ghana.
