A solution is a homogenous mixture of two or more substances(usually the large quantity is called the solvent and the other in smaller quantity is called the solute). Hence solution= solvent+ solute concentration is the expression of amount of solute in a given volume of solution or solvent.
Concentration are measured in moles per unit volume. The unit of volume used may be the dm3 or the litre. This is not confusing as it seems because dm3= 1 litre.
