The www is a service that attracts many people to the internet. The web is exciting because it contains a million of information files called web pages from all over the globe.
The web is defined as; A collection of interconnected electronic documents (or web documents) stored on computers possessing internet.
These web documents are all interconnected by means of pathway called Hyperlinks (or links).
- A document that contains links to text documents is called hypertext.
- A document that contains links to multimedia documents is known as hypermedia.
- A piece of software which allows you to gain access to and explore the web is called a web browser
- A named collection of wed pages that are created by the same person or organization is known as the Website.
On the web, each hyperlink points to a certain Uniform Resource Locator (URL) which is like an address of a document on the internet. An example of an URL on the web is http://www.google.com.
