Chapter 4 HALOGENS

Definition

The elements of group 7 of the periodic table are called halogens.

Halogens means “Salt producer”. They react with acids to form salts. Example include; fluorine (F), chlorine (Cl), Bromine (Br), Iodine (I), Astatine (At).

They exist as diatomic molecules and they all have 7 electrons in the valence shell.
