A discount is an amount deducted from the actual price of an article. If you receive a discount, you pay less than the advertised selling price of the article.
Example
A man receives 10% discount for cash payment when buying a suit for him and pays 63,450 FRS. What discount does he receive?.
Solution
The original price of the suit is 100% of the price
The ratio of discount to the original price= 10: 100
The man pays 90% of the original price
The ratio of the discount to the cash price is 10:90
.: the discount is 10/90 of the cash price
= 1090×63,450FRS
= 7,050 FRS
