The choice of distributing channel depends on the following factors.
- The amount if the retailers capital.
- The degree of perishability.
- The amount of manufactured capital.
- The availability of storage facilities.
- The rate of advertisement.
The manufacturer will prefer to channel goods to the final consumer for the following reasons;
- Absorption of intermediary profit: The producer will wish to sell his product directly to the consumers to gain the profit that would have gone to the middleman.
- Avoid Adultration: The producers may do this to avoid fake sellers. They will prefere to sell directly to maintain the originality of their goods.
- Large Markets : Producers in large or extensive markets will prefer to open their own little shops through which they can sell directly to the final consumers.
- Expensive Products: When goods are expensive producers will like to sell them directly to the user e.g jewelries, internal decorations, furnitures.
- Lack of storage Facilities or Warehouses : Lack of storage or warehouse facilities will enable the producer to prefer dealing directly with the consumers e.g Agricultural activities, Nature of the products. Directly dealing is good for producer who provides cooperate in personal services. This is common with firms or individuals who provides services such as tailoring, accountancy, medical care, hair cuts, mobile phones services.
- Provision of chemical services : Producers will want to deal directly with the consumers if his goods require some technical advice or services. This is seen his services like cable, electricity, radio repairs, telephone network, internet appliances etc.
