These are retailers that increase in size inorder to sell many customers. They include:

Chaine stores : Also known as multiple shopos. It consist of a series of shops a coned by own firms. Branches are spread allover the nation branches are headed by branch managers. They are specialized in services commodities land.The shop buys in bulk and sells at cheaper prises.Goods bought from 1 branch can be refonded or returned if not satisfied.

DISADVANTAGES

  • It is difficult to sell on credit.
  • The main office may be ignorant of local needs.
  • The branch managers has little control over the store goods.

Department Store

                    This are stores in buildings and are found only in large houses.

This shops contains variety of goods on other the roofs of goods.

ADVANTAGES

  • The give convenience in customers since they are located in major towns.
  • Customers can have all the needs they require on the same building.
  • Scale are devestivice.
  • Price are low since long retail buy in bulk.

DISADVANTAGES

  • It is not accessible to customers out of the major towns.
  • Customers may face the problem of choice.
  • Departmental stores require large amount of capital to be setup.
  • They need high running cost for services provided

SUPER MARKETS

They are large scale retail business who deals with household equipements such as fruits, fish, meat etc. Most goods sold has price tags. They offer scale services with the use of  trolley baskets. Super markets are found in city centers with large town and large population e.g MAHIMA, BELLA in Yaoundé.

ADVANTAGES

  • It encourage impulse buying(purchase not realy excess buying)
  • It ensure sell savings
  • Provide varities of goods to customers.
  • It ensure convenience since one can do all his purchase on the same place.

DISADVANTAGES

  • Stealing is possible.
  • There is no relationship between the buyer and the shop assistant.
  • It eliminate bargaining
  • Sales of credit are not possible.
