C. Problems faced by the minority groups
  1. Political problems:
  • Marginalization; since 1961, no Anglophone has been minister of the armed force, education and finance.
  • No Anglophone has headed SONARA
  • Anglophones are absent in major diplomatic appointments
  1. Economic problems
  • The exploitation of Anglophone areas without development
  • Deprivation from good communication infrastructure
  • The closure of some financial institution in the west Cameroon in favour of francophones.
  1. Social problems
  • Anglophone looked upon with suspicions and despised e.g Anglophones are often referred to as “ l’ennemi dans la maison ( the enemy in the house)”
  • They suffer discrimination in education and training opportunities
  • There exist language bias in public administration
