Chapter 1 COMPUTER NETWORK COMMUNICATION

Lesson 1: GENERAL INTRODUCTION
    1. INTRODUCTION

Now a days it is possible to open an account in a bank based in Bamenda and be able to withdraw money from branches of the same bank in Kumba or Douala without opening in those branches. A computer network makes this possible.

    1. DEFINITION

Communication is a transfer of data from a transmitter (source or sender) to a receiver (sink).

Networks: It is a system of interconnected computers that can share data and application with one another.

Computer Network: It is a group of two or more computers connected to one another so that they communicate and share their resources. Eg: Cyber café, express union network.

Stand-Alone Computer: Computer which is not connected to another.

Sharing resource is a resource that is installed to one computer and can be used by the others. Example: Documents, programs and printers.
