IX. ACTIVE AND PASSIVE VOICE

 The Passive Voice

Here the subject is acted upon. For example;

  1. Three mangoes were eaten.
  2. The passengers were robbed by two thieves.

NB: Not all sentences can be put in the passive voice. Intransitive verbs have no passive form. For example;

  1. He is in class.                      (no passive)
  2. The boy slept well.            (no passive)
