TYPES OF READING

A. Extensive Reading

This has to do with fast eye glance through a passage to extract particular information or to get a general understanding of the passage. There are two types:

  1. Skimming:

It is also referred to as spread reading. This method requires students to survey, question or review a passage without reading every word in the passage.

  1. Scanning:

It involves a quick eye movement in which the eye wanders until the reader finds the specific information needed. It is used only when specific information is needed.
