Chapter 2: THE EUROPEAN TRADERS AND THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SCRAMBLE AND ANNEXATION OF CAMEROON

Introduction

By 1868, the Cameroon coast was dominated by British traders. The main British trading firm was John Holt, Company B and W Kings.

They later joined by German firms such as the Cart Woermann and the Jantzen and Thomahlen firms.

The British and German traders completed seriously along the Western coast of Cameroon.
