Expressing decimals into fractions

To convert from a decimal to a fraction, count the number of decimal places to obtain a power of 10, express the decimal as a fraction with a denominator to that power of 10, and then simplify.

Example

Convert 0.35 to a fraction

Solution

There are two decimal places, so the power of 10 is 2, therefore the denominator is 102= 100

0.35= 35100

=7/20
