- Random motion
This is the type of motion that lacks any regular pattern. Examples of objects undergoing random motion include:
- Leaves of tree set into motion by the wind
- Movement of gas molecules in a room
- Uniform motion
A body is said to be undergoing uniform motion if its velocity is not changing. That is the body is moving in a straight line and in a constant speed. Examples of objects undergoing uniform motion include;
- A vehicle moving along a straight road at a constant speed
- Parachutist falling vertically downwards at its terminal velocity
- Linear motion
This is the movement in a straight line. For example; a vehicle moving along a straight road. Linear motion can either be uniform (in which the speed is not changing) or accelerated (In which the speed is changing).
- Non-linear motion
This is motion that is not in a straight. E.g. the movement of gas molecules.
- Circular motion
This is the movement of a body around a circular path at a constant speed called circular motion.
