CHAPTER 3 : Resource and exploitation

Resources

Resources are anything in our environment which are useful to people which can either be natural or man-made.

Resource management on the other hand are efforts put in place by man to maintain and preserve the natural resources e.g. forest, fish and minerals

Natural resources are those that man has made little or no effort to bring about its existence e.g. soils, fish, minerals, climate etc. these are either Renewable or non-renewable.

  1. Renewable resources: these are replaceable resources after used or exploitation e.g. forest-by reforestation, soils by adding fertilizers.
  2. Non-renewable resources: these are resources which when extracted cannot be replaced in the nearest future e.g. diamond, gold, copper, petroleum.
