CHAPTER 3 : Resource and exploitation

Management of forest resources in Cameroon

Case study: forest exploitation in southern Cameroon

Most of Cameroon’s forest exploitation is concentrated in the equatorial forest zone which occupies about 40% of the total surface area giving a total of 2.5million hectares.

The forest occupies most of the southern part of Cameroon principally: southwest, littoral, southern region to eastern region, centre. The forest sector occupies an important place in the country’s economy.
