Commerce is classified under 2 main headings namely trade and aids to trade.

- TRADE
It is a branche of commerce that deals with the buying and selling of goods and services. Trade is divided into 2 domains namely; home trade and foreing trade
- Home trade( internal or domestic trade) Home trade is the buying and selling of goods and services within a country. Home trade is made up of trade and wholesaler trade.
- Retail trade: it is the buying and selling of goods in small quantities. That is they buy from the wholesaler sell to the final consumer.
- Wholesaler trade: it is the purchase of goods in bulk from the manufacturer to sell to the retailer in small quantities.
- Foreign trade(external or internation or oversea trade). Foreign is the buying and selling of goods and services between 3 countries or among many countries of the world.
- Import trade: this is when Cameroon buys goods such as cars, computers etc.
- Export trade: this is when Cameroon sells cocoa, tea and timber to france. Foreign trade is father divided into bilateral and multilateral trade.
- AIDS to TRADE(commercial activities or auxiliary trade)
They consist of those activities that assiste trade to take place.
Banking:
- Banks provide capital to entreneurs to start up business
- Banks also assist customers to make payment by means of cheques
- Banks provide account which enables businessmen to keep their surpluses.
Transportation: this is the movement of people goods and materials from one place to another by means of rail, boat, air and sea.Transportation enhances trading and a large scale by transporting goods in bulk e.g cocoa, tea and rubber are taken buy lorry from the plantation to the warehouses and then to docks.
Communication: through communication the population is inform about the existence of the product. This is usually done through the : internet, mobile communication and postal communication.
Insurance: several risks are involved In business such as: accident, fire, death etc
- The insurance relieve the producer by accepting to make claim upon the payment of damages. Thus manufacturer are able to engage in production without fear of risk.
Advertisement
- Advertisement create awerness of the existence of good in the market
- It also gives information on how a good is used and where they can be found
- Manufacturers are also inform of the existence of raw materials and newly produced products.
Warehouses
These are large stores where goods are kept and later released gradually when needed. Warehouse enables producers.
