Characteristics of the temperate hard wood forest
  • They are mostly broad leaves
  • They shade their leaves in autumn
  • Species are scattered irregularly in the forest
  • Commercial species include: elm, beech, oats, chestnut, maple
  • Species are durable and strong but they are very difficult to tract their soft wood

  • Appala chain mountain
  • Washington and Oregon states in USA
  • Northern Europe
  • Northern Siberia

Characteristics

  • Trees are very tall from 30m and above
  • Trees are evergreen with needle like leaves
  • Most of the trees are soft wood
  • Trees occurs in pure stands (the same species come together)
  • Commercial species include: pine, spruce, fir
