There are 3 main genres of literature namely: Prose, Drama and poetry
- Prose: it is that form of creative Writing that deals with a long narrative. It is a straight forward narrative of a story. A prose text of less than 50 pages is called a short story and a prose text of more than 50 pages is called a Novel.

- Drama: It is that form of literature which is written to react. it is written in Arts and scenes it is written in a dialogue form or a conversational style.

- Comedy: this is that type of drama with a happy ending. It may begin sadly and ends happily.
- Tragedy: that type of drama that ends sadly. It may begin happily but ends sadly.
- Tragicomedy: that type of drama that has a mixture of happiness and sadness. At the end, some characters are happy and others are sad.
