Accident is something bad which happens unexpectedly involving damage in life and property.
Causes of accidents
- Excessive speed of vehicles above 80km/h
- Non respect of highway codes or road signs
- Drunkenness, tiredness and dizziness leading to loss of concentration
- Poor states of vehicles moving along the highway, that is vehicles without breaks etc.
- Making and receiving phone calls reduces concentration while driving leading to accidents
- Unqualified and inexperienced drivers cause road accidents
- Poor nature of Cameroonian highway (potholes, narrow roads, sharp bends, absence of road signs and dilapidated bridges) contribute to road accidents
Consequences of road accidents
- Loss of lives
- Destruction of vehicles, electricity poles and road side buildings
- Imprisonment of drivers due to reckless driving that result to loss of lives
- Suspension of some travelling agencies and drivers through the withdrawal of licenses
- Injuries from accidents such as fractures wound and bruises.
Measures taken to guarantee road safety
- Installation of traffic lights at major road junctions; red indicates stop to vehicles, green indicates vehicles to move, yellow indicates vehicles should slow down for they will soon stop
- Using the traffic police to regulate movement at junctions without traffic light
- Introductions of radars to check excessive speed
- Employ traffic wardens to check wrong parking on road
- Regular control over the deliverance of driving licenses so that unqualified drivers are examinated
- Always put on safety seat belts while in a vehicle
The support of a school institution
It refers to those branches which contribute to the smooth running of the school without necessary being under direct authority of the school administration. They include;

The school council
Each school has selected bodies of people who ensure that the affairs of the school are well managed. These bodies are called councils, they include:
- The disciplinary councils: they act as the school court
- The class council: they examine the academic performance of the students at the end of a term
- The school council: they oversee the smooth functioning of the school from the point of view of pedagogy, administration finance, moral and infrastructural development
- The permanent council: they help in the admission of new students and recruitment of time teachers
