Microsoft is a graphic based operating system developed for personal computers by Microsoft Corporation. The most commonly used windows versions are; window xp, windows 7, 8 and 10.
What is a GUI (Graphic-User Interface)?
A GUI is a program interface or operating environments that utilize graphic elements such as desktops, task bar, icons, menus, and windows in an attempt to make an operating system easier to use. The Macintosh and MS windows operating systems are examples of the GUIs.
How to use Microsoft windows
There may be different versions of Microsoft windows but modern versions have many things in common especially when it comes to usage.
- Creating a New Folder:
In order to create a new folder we proceed as follows:
- Open the location where you want to create the new folder
- Right click your mouse and when a task plane appears click on make a new folder. The new folder then appears with name highlighted
- Type a new name and press enter and the folder is being created.
- Deleting and undeleting files and folders:
- In order to delete a file or folder:
- Select the file or folder you wish to delete by left clicking once with the mouse, then right click once
- On the task plane that appears click delete this file. You are prompted to confirm the deletion
- Click yes to confirm the deletion. Windows removes the file or folder placing it in the recycle bin.
- In order to undelete a file or folder:
- Double click on the recycle bin icon on your machine, after processing the deleted item appears in a folder
- Right click on the deleted item and when the task plane appears click on restore this item
- Click the close button to close the recycle bin and go to the folder in which the file was deleted
