MUTATION
Definition: mutation is the spontaneous change in the structure of the amount of DNA of an organism resulting in the creation of a new character or trait. Example of diseases or character causes as a result of mutation Down’s syndrome, haemophilia etc.
TYPES OF MUTATION
There are two types of mutation
- Chromosome mutation
- Gene mutation
Chromosome mutation is a mutation resulting from change in the amount or arrangement of mutation
Gene mutation is the change in the structure of DNA examples of gene mutation include Albinism, sickle cell, anaemia.
CAUSES OF MUTATION
It can be caused by alpha and beta rays , X-rays chemicals like TOBACCO, caffeine etc.
