MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

 

FUNCTIONS OF THE MALE REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS

Kidney:  for excretion an osmoregulation

Ureter: carries urine from the kidney to the bladder

Urethra: carries urine from the bladder to the exterior, it also carries sperm to the exterior

Prostate: it secrete a thin milky alkaline fluid which neutralises the acidity of any remaining the acidity of any remaining urine in the vagina

Cowper’sgland:  it secrete an alkaline fluid which contains mucus which help to neutralise the acidity of any remaining urine in the urethra

Testes: for sperm production and testosterone

Epididymis:  it store” the sperm produce by the testes for maturation

Sperm duct: carry sperm from the epididymis to the urethra

Scrotum: it houses and protects the testes

Penis:  for sexual intercourse and passage of urine

Erectile tissues:  it contain spongy tissues which during sexual exceedement becomes filled enough making the penis erected.
