A bio-climatic or natural region is a large area with almost the same climate, vegetation, said and even human activities. There are three natural regions in Cameroon;
- The equatorial region
- The tropical region
- The mountainous region
- The equatorial region
- Climate:
- it is called equatorial climate
- it is hot and wet throughout the year
- it has two seasons rainy and dry seasons
- vegetation:
- it is called the equatorial or tropical rain forest
- it is made up of trees like iroko, sapelle, mahogany etc
- soil:
- it is called the ferralitic soil
- it is not fertile because of leaching
- the tropical region
- climate:
- it is called the tropical continental climate
- it is hot throughout the year
- it has two seasons, long dry and short rainy seasons
- vegetation:
- it is called the tropical grassland or savanna
- three types of savanna in Cameroon are woodland savanna, parkland savanna, Sahel or dry savanna
- soil:
- it is called the ferruginous soil
- it is dry and thin
- can be productive when watered or irrigated
- mountainous region
- climate: it is called mountain climate, it is cold and wet throughout the year
- vegetation:
- it is called mountain vegetation
- it is scanty (not much)
- it is made up of herb and shrubs
- Soil: they are volcanic soil, alluvial soil. Both are very fertile.
