CHAPTER 1 ENVIRONMENTAL HYGIENE

Ventilation

Definition: Ventilation is the art of opening windows and doors or using fans and ACs to let in fresh air and send out waste air.

There are 2 types of ventilation;

  1. Natural ventilation: Here, we make use of natural air to provide fresh or cold air in our environment. In houses or classes or other closed rooms, this is done by simply opening windows and doors so that air can easily move in and out.

  1. Artificial ventilation:This is done by the use of fans or ACs (air conditioners) etc… When the environment or weather is hot, we put on a fan or an AC which helps to reduce the temperature by increasing air frequency. This method is costly.

NB: Natural ventilation is better than artificial ventilation.
