Functions of a Senior Divisional Officer (SDO)
  • Maintains law and order within the division.
  • He is the chief executive officer and the representative of the head of state in civil live and in all law.
  • He coordinates the activities of a various decentralized ministerial services in the division.
  • He monitors the activities of the media.
  • He supervises the work of the Divisional Officers (DO) of his division.
  • He is the manager of the divisions.
  • He oversees the running of all council and council unions within the division.
  • He supervises workers of the government department. Example: transfer, leave, absences etc.
  • He mobilizes the citizen for community development.
  • He regularly reports to the governor about the state of affairs in his division.
  • He sensitizes people to register for elections.
  • He promotes income generating activities in his division such as cocoa farming, animal rearing etc.
