Chapter 5 THERMOMETRY AND CALORIMETRY

CONVERSION OF TEMPERATURE
  1. Converting From Kelvin To Degree Celsius

°C=K-273

  1. Converting From Degree Celsius To Kelvin

K=°C+273

  1. Converting From Degree Celsius To Degree Fahrenheit

°F= 9°C5+ 32

Example: Convert the following temperature.

  1. 20°C to K
  2. 385K to °C
  3. 373K to °F

Solution

  1. K=°C+273 but °C = 20

K = 20+273=293K

K = 293K

  1. °C=K-273 but K = 385

°C = 385-273=112°C

°C=112°C
