METHOD 1: COMMON FACTORS

When factorizing an expression that has a common factor, we put out the common factor and introduce a bracket. We then divide the expression by the common factor and put the results in the brackets.

Example 1: ab+ac= a (b+c)

Example2: 2x+8y = 2(x+4y)
