CHAPTER 1 : THE U.P.C

SUCCESSES OF THE FRENCH AGAINST THE U.P.C

The French succeeded in keeping the U.P.C but of the French national assembly in 1951 election out of the territorial assembly CATCAM/ in 1952 election and legislative assembly ATCAM in the 1956 election.

  • They succeeded in discrealiting the party as pro communist making the to lose the support of deadly class and many Christians.
  • They also succeeded in disc realities the party of an anti- Christian party and this influenced the catholic bishop to issue a pastoral letter condemning the party on the Easter Sunday.
  • The succeeded in banning the U.P.C in July 1955 forcing the party to operate under grounds.
  •  They succeeded in buying Mayi Matip and many Bassa U.P.C in 1958.
