REASON FOR RISE OF AHMADOU AHIDJO AS PRIME MINISTER 1958
  • He was an influential politician in French northern Cameroon
  • He was the leader of the U.C and had more seat in the ALCAM
  • Ahidjo had been groomed by Dr. Aujoulat and was regarded by the French as a nice stooge to manipulate and protect French Interest.
  • The inability of Mbida to neutralise the UPC, opened the gates for the rise of Ahidjo who was prepared to use dialogue or peaceful approach.
  •  Ahidjo was struggle by JEAN RAMADER the high commission who force Mbida to resign and that open the way for Ahidjo to became prime minister 1958
  • Ahidjo won popular support in 1958 by accepting immediate independence he equally made reunification and won the support of French Cameroon
