CHAPTER 3: FRENCH CAMEROON UNDER AHMADOU AHIDJO 1958 TO 1960

THE EXTEND TO WHICH AHIDJO HANDLE MBIDA?S

-Ahidjo made use of military force to suppress the radical faction of Felix Moumie and by 1960 most of the radical U.P.C leader when on exile.

-Mbida fail to secure immediate independence which Ahidjo did, he negotiated with France and Un to secure a new status for French Cameroon 1956 which separated the territory from the French assembly and enable him to secure independence in 1 st January 1960

-Mbida had antagonise many politicians with his authoritarian policy, Ahidjo therefore adopted national reconciliation and gave the foundation of the north and southern alliance in French Cameroon.

    However, Ahidjo did not record total success in taking problem led by Mbida U.P.C terrorist or problem continue until 1971 the upeciste when abroad especially to France, Guinee, Egypt, Ghana etc and try to destabilise the government at this part ahidjo became more brutal toward the U.P.C more dictatorial and autocratic than Mbida in handling state issue.
