CHAPTER 3 : TRANSPORT IN PLANT

IMPORTANCE OF TRANSPIRATION

The transpiration streams enables the water to move up through the plants. Some of the water is needed in photosynthesis.

  • Creates a cooling effect in the plants and helps leaves withstand high temperatures.
  • Helps in the absorption of water and minerals from the soil
  • Causes the transport of water and minerals in plants
  • It allows the diffusion of CO2 gas from the air for photosynthesis.
  • It supports photosynthesis and encourages the exchange of gases, helping maintain levels of CO2 and  O2  in the atmosphere
