CHAPTER 4 : EXCRETION

IMPORTANCE OF EXCRETION
  • It is necessary to prevent poissioning of the body cell by accumulated excreting product e.g Urina
  • It ensures a fairly constant amount of materials in the body.

EXCRETORY ORGANS IN MAN AND COMPOUNDS EXCRETED

EXCRETORY ORGAN

COMPOUNDS EXCRETED

Kidneys

Urea, uric acid, nitrogenous waste, salt, water in urine

Lungs

CO2, water, heat, salt

Skin

Urea, water, salt, lactic acid; heat in sweat

Liver

Bile pigment and urea

EXCRETORY PRODUCT IN MAMMALS

PRODUCT

ORIGIN

METHOD OF ELIMINATION

CO2

Produce during respiration

Excreted by the lungs

Bile Pigment

Produce by the breakdown of hemoglobin in the liver

Excreted in the faeces during egestion

Urea

Produce by the breakdown of excess protein in the liver

Excreted by kidneys in urine

EXCRETORY PRODUCT IN PLANT

EXCRETORY PRODUCT

ORIGIN

METHOD OF ELIMINATION

Water

Obtain from the soil and chemical reaction in cells

Transpiration

Oxygen

Produced during photosynthesis

Diffusion through the stomata

CO2

Produce during respiration

Diffusion through the stomata

Mineral salt

Come in with soil water

Stored in plant body and get use when those plant drop off
