Chap5: set theory

Cardinality of sets

This is the number of elements present in a set. It is denoted by n(A), meaning the cardinal number of A

Ex: Given the following, find the cardinality of each set

a) A = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}, b) B = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, c) C = {apple, pineapple, sugar cane, pawpaw, mango, orange}

Solution: a) n(A) = 6, b) n(B) = 7, c) n{C} = 6
