Calculation of the median

The median is the middle number when the data is arranged in order of magnitude. If the data is odd, the middle number stands separately but if the data is odd, the middle number is the average of the average of the 2 numbers in the middle.

Ex: a) find the median of the following numbers = 8, 6, 5, 7, 4

b) Find the median of the following number = 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9

Solution:

a) Median = 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 = 6

b) Median = 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 = 6+72 = 6.5
